Meet the Artists! Jane Locke showcases abstract acrylic pieces, characterized by bold color palettes, geometric shapes, and playful patterns. Linda Coffey explores a wide range of mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastels, and alcohol ink. Her subjects vary from seascapes and landscapes to semi-abstract florals and animals. Peggy Johnston uses acrylics, gouache, watercolor, and oil to create coastal beachscapes as well as vibrant abstract compositions. Jan Spearance specializes in watercolor, capturing the beauty of ocean scenes and natural objects with a soft, flowing touch. All four artists began their artistic journeys after retirement, joining the “Brushstrokes – Cape Cod Artists” group that was formed three years ago in the wake of the pandemic. The group has fostered a supportive environment for creative exploration, meeting weekly at the Senior Center in South Yarmouth. Their work has been showcased at renowned venues including the Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, and local Cape libraries and art festivals.
