About Girls Who Code
Girls Who Code club is hosted by the Dennis Public Library, catering to students in grades 6–12. The club meets weekly (Tuesdays, 4:30–6:00 PM) during its active season, from November – March, and there’s no prior coding experience required.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute
They were given a history of some of the different kinds of ships and vessels including the Alvin, a human occupied submersible vehicle, REMUS, a programmable robotic vehicle, and the Sentry, designed for operations on the seafloor to over 19,500 ft. They also learned about the different moorings and buoys used around the world to help study the ocean. We toured the “back rooms” and were able to see first hand where the scientists worked.
The girls had the opportunity to go on the docks to see some of the ships including the Atlantic that carries the Alvin and the Neil Armstrong. After the tour they walked to the Ocean Science Discovery Center to see some of the vessels. It was a great visit and everyone learned a great deal.

It was a great program, we went on a tour and participated in many hands-on activities. There were many speakers that were very enthusiastic. They stressed the importance of girls in the computer science fields and encouraged the girls to keep it up.

Hour of Python is “a visual introduction to code using the Python programming language and Turtles”.
CSS
CSS is a language that describes the style of an HTML document.CSS describes how HTML elements should be displayed.This tutorial will teach you CSS from basic to advanced.
Java
In this course you’ll be exposed to fundamental programming concepts, including object-oriented programming (OOP) using Java. You’ll build 7 Java projects—like a basic calculator—to help you practice along the way.

Girls Who Code App
In our 2018-2019 club, we developed an app for our phones. The app was an introduction to Girls Who Code and what its all about. It also introduced our club members and why they like to code.
