Daniel Harrington will host a program about one of the most tragic, but little-known, maritime disasters in the history of New England. On February 12th, 1907 a steamship, the SS Larchmont, collided with a schooner, the Harry Knowlton, off the coast of Block Island in frigid conditions. You will learn about the harrowing stories of survival, heroic rescue efforts, and fascinating investigation into the disaster, which killed more than one hundred passengers and crew members.
Daniel Harrington is a popular columnist for the Providence Journal and serves as a Director for the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame.
