Scrunch-Paint a Silk Scarf Program

Saturday, July 20th at 12:00 p.m.

Kulina Folk Art will host a fun workshop on creating stunning tie-dye style silk scarves. No experience necessary! Perfect for beginners, this workshop will guide you through the magical world of colors and how to expertly blend them using our permanent, high chroma, highly transparent liquid fabric paint. During the workshop, we will provide step-by-step instructions for a creative process that will leave you with a wearable masterpiece. Your blank scarf is made from 100% silk, ensuring its luxurious quality, carefully hand-rolled and hand-sewn, measuring 8 inches by 54 inches. Each participant will leave with a beautiful silk scarf masterpiece. After the workshop, simply allow your creation to dry overnight before ironing it on the silk setting, to permanently set the vibrant colors.

We recommend you wear or bring an old shirt to protect your clothing.

Registration is limited. Please call the library at 508-760-6219 to register.

This program was generously funded by the Friends of the Dennis Public Library.

Dennis Libraries' Summer StoryWalk®

Starting Friday, June 28th

The Dennis Libraries present a StoryWalk® at Johnny Kelley Park. This summer's featured book is Crunch the Shy Dinosaur

Author Joe Cirocco Dunlap and illustrator Greg Pizzoli introduce a brontosaurus named "Crunch." He is quiet and shy, but, never fear, this picture book gives tips on how to make a new friend, especially one who might be a little different from you.

We hope readers of all ages join the fun. Afterwards, feel free to spend time exploring all of the park’s offerings.

The StoryWalk® concept was created by Anne Ferguson of MontpelierVT, and developed with the help of Rachel Senechal of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

The Dennis Libraries thank these two innovative women, along with the Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works for the Town of Dennis, for making this event possible.

Burn Boston Burn

Saturday, June 15th at 12:00 p.m.

Wayne Miller's first book is set in the early 1980s while Boston is set ablaze. Two hundred sixty-four buildings were burned intentionally resulting in millions of dollars in damages and hundreds of injuries. This is the true story of the deep conspiracy of nine men, determined to wreak havoc on the city and the relentless investigators who uncovered them. Told from the perspective of the head ATF Special Agent in charge of the investigation, Wayne Miller, Burn Boston Burn is a tale of political deceit and internal corruption. The book details the series of crimes that shook the city of Boston and became known as one of the largest arson cases on record in the history of the country.

Wayne Miller was a Special Agent, Criminal Investigator and Certified Fire Investigator for the U. S. Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for 25 years. He has been involved in numerous high profile criminal cases involving illegal firearms, bombings and arson. He was also a member of the ATF National Response Team, responding to major fire and explosion incidents. For the past 17 years, in the private sector, Mr. Miller has been a fire and explosion analyst for the Massachusetts - based Wright Group, Inc.
