New StoryWalk® at Johnny Kelly Park

Starting Saturday, April 17th

Please come read our bilingual story on the pathway at Johnny Kelley Park.

Ven a leer nuestra historia bilingüe en el Parque Johnny Kelley.

The Dennis Libraries are joining together to present a StoryWalk® for April school vacation. Starting on Saturday, April 17th, head over to Johnny Kelley Park to read our bilingual story (in both English and Spanish.) Its title is Waiting for the Biblioburro, written by Monica Brown, illustrated by John Parra, and translated by Adriana Domiquez. The book is based on real life librarian Luis Soriano Bohórquez, who is eagerly awaited by children in the rural areas of Columbia. He loads his two burros with books and travels around the country to spread literacy and culture. The StoryWalk® begins across from the playground. Follow the story panels along to the right, where they are affixed to the posts for the park’s Braille Trail. We hope readers of all ages enjoy the book.

This program is offered in partnership with the Ezra H. Baker Innovation School, an institution also dedicated to increasing literacy and sharing cultures. Funding was provided by The Educational Foundation for Dennis and Yarmouth, Inc. The StoryWalk® concept was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed with the help of Rachel Senechal of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
