Artists Elaine Giberti & Susan Keating display in June
This month artists Elaine Giberti & Susan Keating display their talent here at the Dennis Public Library's meeting room gallery.
Always an appreciator of nature and the outdoors, Elaine enjoys taking many photographs on Cape Cod and wherever she travels with her husband from which she paints acrylic landscape pictures. Drawing with her paintbrush, she often experiments with textures in her landscapes. Her pictures are full of vivid colors and tend to be very cheerful recognizable scenes. Teachers who have most influenced her are Cynthia Durost of Acton and Odin Smith of Harwich. Elaine started painting after she retired.
Elaine is a juried member of
the Cape Cod Art Association, a member of the Yarmouth Art Guild, the Wednesday
Painters of Cotuit, and the Monday Painters on the Dennis Green (Summer). She
volunteers as Librarian at the CCAA, and as Student Class Coordinator for the
Artists’ Paintbox Gallery of the Yarmouth Art Guild.
Recent exhibits include:
“That Day In---” at the Cape Cod Art Association, the fall exhibit at The
Yarmouth Cultural Center, The Maplewood Residences at Mayflower Place, and
Oliver’s Restaurant. In addition to sales from
exhibits, Elaine has painted commissioned works.
Ever since childhood Susan
Keating has been interested in art. But with a husband and three children, a
teaching career and volunteering, there never seemed to be the time to pursue
painting. It was not until she retired to Cape Cod, that she began to paint.
Susan became a member of the Yarmouth Art Guild and a juried member of the CapeCod Art Association, studying under artist and instructor, Odin Smith,
challenged herself to paint landscapes and seascapes of Cape Cod, figures, and
inanimate objects found in the gardens and along the shorelines of the Cape.
She managed a few night
photography classes at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, & gained
the confidence to shoot landscapes, flowers and architecture. Inspired by the
beautiful surroundings of Cape Cod, she became a member of the Dennis/Yarmouth
Newcomers' nature photography group. Her paintings tend towards the realism of
nature, while capturing the source of light.
Recently she is inspired by
photos of her family members and friends to bring figures into her paintings.
All are welcome to stop in any time during library hours. Their work will be on display the entire month of June. A reception will be held Thursday, June 2nd at 4:00 p.m. in the library's meeting room gallery.
