Dennisport Resident and Libraries Join for Haiti Relief

DENNISPORT - A young Dennisport man with roots in Jacmel, Haiti, is collecting contributions to help his homeland.

Vladimir Jean Philippe, 19, worried about his aunts, uncles and cousins in Jacmal, a seaport town about an hour from Port au Prince, has enlisted the support of Dennis Library Director Jessica Langlois to collect funds to help his devastated homeland.

“Starting Tuesday, a collection jar will be on the circulation desk so our patrons can directly contribute to helping Haitian earthquake victims,” Langlois said.

Jean Philippe, a 2009 graduate of Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, is a regular patron of DPL. “I go there to study, to read books, to use the Internet,” he said Friday. “I just had to do something meaningful when we could not reach our family in Jacmal, and the library is a five-minute walk from my house.”
