First Wednesday Film Series

Wednesday, September 2nd at 12:15 pm Sid, the rebellious son of a controlling and savage Hong Kong triad boss, has to flee to Taiwan upon enraging his father’s adversary, a powerful tycoon and underground business leader. Hiding out in the mountains, Sid encounters a group of Zen drummers. Immersing into the world of the Zen drummers eventually converts him into a firm and focused young man. However, Sid’s independence from his father and the triad life is profoundly challenged when a twist of fate awaits him back home in Hong Kong, forcing him to choose between loyalty to his family and his new found faith in himself.

You’ll learn about their availability, preparation, and nutritional values – and even taste some specimens! Audience members will leave with an illustrated pamphlet that contains plant descriptions, guidelines for responsible and safe foraging, and a list of references for more information.

Friends' Author Series

Gary Braver, pen name for author Gary Goshgarian, will speak to our audience. He is the author of six critically acclaimed suspense novels - three written under his own name and three under his pen name. Gary specializes in medical thrillers, and his his latest "Skin Deep" is a gripping, twisty tale that explores the dark side of cosmetic surgery.
